COVID-19 equipment handling precautions

In these uncertain times we are, like all good businesses, are following the local health authority and World Health Organisation’s Guidelines for hard surface contamination. Under most circumstances, the amount of infectious virus on any contaminated surfaces is likely to have decreased significantly by 72 hours. Based on that guidance we have implemented the following procedures that fall into two categories/procedures.

Please Note: If a risk assessment of the location/equipment indicates that a higher level of contamination may be present (for example where unwell individuals have used or come into contact with equipment) or there is visible contamination with body fluids, then the need for additional PPE such as a surgical facemarks and full face visor should be considered. YOU MUST advise us of these situations.

Best practice kit preparation

  • Technicians to use hand sanitiser before, during and after preparation of each item.
  • Once the prep is completed, technicians to wear gloves and wipe down equipment touch points with anti – viral/bacterial wipes.
  • Handles, zips and clasps of sanitised cases will be wiped and labelled as such.

Best practice for operatives using shared equipment

  • Wipe down all hard services on equipment whilst paying particular attention to ‘grab’ or ‘hold’ points.
  • Anti-bacterial/viral wipes are the most practical and suitable thing to use, production should supply these to all crews and locations to use as standard.
  • Avoid using shared items for close contact personal accessories such as earpieces, interview micro phones etc.

Standard risk due to current situation

  • Pro Motion Drivers or couriers to collect equipment once it is available.
  • Personal protection methods to be used by PMH drivers such as protective disposable gloves.
  • Once the equipment has been returned Pro Motion Technicians to wipe down all hard surfaces or equipment with anti-bacterial wipes whilst using disposal gloves.
  • Pro Motion Technicians to wash hands periodically throughout the wipe down process. Check in processes to then be adhered to as normal, missing and damage lists will be issued ASAP but MAY be 72hrs behind our usual time frames.

Heightened risk due to filming location / people in contact with equipment.

  • Customer to advise Pro Motion of any concerns over the location of filming or the people using the equipment or in the proximity of the kit/crew.
  • Pro Motion Drivers or couriers to collect equipment 72hrs after the shoot has finished and the equipment has not been touched/used.
  • You will not be charged for equipment being held in quarantine aside from any costs out of our control such as cross hires etc.
  • Personal protection methods to be used when handling the equipment by PMH drivers such as protective disposable gloves.
  • Once the equipment has been returned Pro Motion Technicians to wipe down all hard surfaces or equipment with anti-bacterial wipes whilst using disposal gloves.
  • Pro Motion Technicians to wash hands periodically throughout the wipe down process. Check in processes to then be adhered to as normal, missing and damage lists will be issued ASAP but will be at least 72hrs behind our usual time frames.
