Sony’s surprise addition to their Cinema Line full frame cameras; the FX3 features the same internal system as the hugely popular A7S MKIII.  Still with the capabilities to shoot photos but with the orientation firmly towards filming motion.   

The FX3 lacks the EVF seen on the A7S but now features an internal fan system for cooling while filming for long periods of time in 4K.  A rugged body with built in ¼” screw threads allows for cageless operation and improved button layout squarely aims this at filming rather than photography.  A XLR unit Top handle comes as standard to allow professional audio input.  

The FX3 includes a new back illuminated 12.1MP full frame sensor with increased performance against rolling shutter and upgraded low light performance as you’d expect.  Internal recording to CFexpress Type A media including 4K 4:2:2 10bit, 4K 120p in Full Frame, All-I codec with auto focus and 240p in HD (1420×804 effective pixels).  15 stops dynamic range in Slog-3 matches its competition and other cinema cameras and for even greater detail external recording via HDMI of 16Bit 4K Raw output 50/60P, with support for Apple ProRes Raw on supported external devices. 

Battery life of 75-95 minutes in 4K, articulated touch screen display, internal image stabilization, full sized HDMI and face and eye tracking for people and animals are just some more impressive additions to this mirrorless camera.
