Driver / Trainee Camera Technician

Location: Manchester or London

Job Role: 

As a driver and trainee technician, you will be supporting both the operational and technical teams while developing your own skills & knowledge on the path to becoming a Technician, within a structured training plan. This role requires flexible shift patterns and the possibility for out of hour’s overtime. Whilst this is a development role you will be required to drive for large parts of your shifts and should be comfortable with this. 

Our Operational team are responsible for all our logistics primarily the safe delivery and collection of all our equipment to and from our clients and suppliers. This role will require daily driving duties as well as out of hours overtime requirements when needed. We will look to balance this role fairly between the technical and logistics department but there will be more weighting towards driving in the first year of employment.  

The Pro Motion Hire Technical team is responsible for the preparation and testing of hire equipment in line with our clients’ requirements and specifications. They are also responsible for testing and checking in returned hires and ensuring that all our equipment continues to meet the high standards we set, as well as other ad hoc duties like general maintenance of hire kit, and other warehouse / logistical tasks.  

Key Responsibilities 

  • Delivery driving, collections, loading and unloading vans.  
  • Liaising with clients you will be expected to represent Pro Motion professionally.
  • To assist Head of Operations with day-to-day tasks within the Warehouse – answering the door to clients/couriers, loading/unloading vans, and general tidiness of warehouse particularly the Returns Bay and Loading Bay. 
  • To assist in the preparation and testing of equipment ready to go out to clients in line with the job specifications .
  • To test and check in returning client hires – Reporting damaged or missing equipment as per internal procedures. 
  • You will start with more basic kit (Grip, Lighting etc) and gradually learn on the job as you progress on to more complex equipment (Lighting, Cameras, and lenses etc). 

 Customer / Client Approach 

  • Support the camera floor technicians in preparing and checking in hires. 
  • Welcoming and looking after clients whilst in the warehouse for demos/prep days etc 

 Person Specification 

  • Understanding and awareness of the technical side of the TV & Film industry 
  • Awareness of key equipment manufacturers (including but not limited to: Arri, Sony, Red, Canon, Angenieux, Zeiss etc) 
  • Basic knowledge of professional camera, lighting & sound equipment, and accessories desirable. 
  • Strong computer skills inc Microsoft Office 
  • Good organisation & time management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail 

 Education / Experience required 

  • Film/TV/Broadcast related degree or 1 year’s industry related work experience 


  • Full clean driving license and good knowledge of London or Manchester dependent on where the role is based. 
  • Over 21 years old 
  • Experience driving vans/larger vehicles
