Canon ME20F-SH

Show: IBC 2015
Estimated Release Date: End of October 2015
Price: TBC but rumoured around €15,000
Hiding behind the unflattering name, the ME20F-SH (referred to as the “fish” by the Canon sales reps) finds itself a home in an interesting and niche market – that of covert / night vision / “see in the dark” technology. With an unflatteringly noisy yet effective maximum ISO of 4 million and a 1920×1080 resolution full frame 35mm sensor, this camera is truly a low light master. 19micron pixel size helps provide a minimum illumination of 0.0005 lux (yes, you read that correctly), and with the ability for the user to flip out the IR cut filter to turn it into night vision mode, certainly all bases are covered when it comes to seeing in the dark.
Potential applications include natural history, covert filming / hidden camera and military use.
